| History Shikamaru was born in Japan, an only child, but moved to America when he was very young, growing up not far from Saint Ambrose. He'd heard of the school but never gave it much thought; he knew a few friends that attended although if he thought about it much he'd realize he hadn't heard from them since they transferred. But...he didn't think about it; that would be nothing but trouble. An extremely intelligent boy, Shikamaru was often bored at school. By middle school he'd become extremely lazy and disinterested in his studies, and his grades dropped significantly despite his intelligence. His aloof nature didn't afford him many close friends, although he was admired by many of his female classmates who made something of a contest out of who could get closest to him. Shikamaru was never particularly interested in girls, though, deciding early on that such relationships were too much trouble. As his grades continued to drop and Shikamaru continued to fall short of his ability, his parents decided something must be done about his attitude. He was sent to Saint Ambrose in his second year of high school. After a year, his usual lazy, cold nature has again pushed away most potential friends. To make matters worse, the peculiar experiments going on behind closed doors at Ambrose have left him with strange abilities. He isn't entirely sure if he is only hallucinating, but his curiosity gets the best of him and he continues to practice these apparent new talents, stretching and warping shadows at will. Personality Shikamaru is extremely laid-back and quiet. He doesn't like to flaunt his intelligence, and due to his laziness, most of his classmates have no idea how smart he is. He is not entirely unfriendly, although his somewhat aloof disposition often gives off the wrong impression. He is definitely lazy, preferring an afternoon laying out on the grassy hill behind the school cathedral staring at the clouds to studying.
